COVID Restrictions

As some of you will be aware, we have had a Covid scare this week. One of our members has tested positive and I am sure you will join me sending him our best wishes and we hope for a speedy recovery.

As a committee we have had to make some decisions regarding how we manage this situation, to ensure we as a club conform with the current guidelines and rules. Having taken advice and consulted with the league, we have decided that we will enforce the following rules for this week.

  • We will not be selecting any player who played in the 1st team last Saturday or the Sunday side, as we cannot be sure how much contact they will have had with the individual who has tested positive.
  • We would ask anyone who visited the club on Saturday or Sunday last week, either as a player or supporter, to stay away from the club for this weekend. As much as we would love your support, we must ask you to not visit or spectate to reduce the risk of any possible infection.

We say this knowing that most of you have taken a Covid test. However, we must still ask that you do not visit the club as there is still some risk of transmission.

These measures have meant that we have a much smaller pool of players to select from for this weekend. The result is that we will be forfeiting the 1st team league match v Limpsfield Chart on Saturday, and have sadly had to cancel our longest standing club fixture v London New Zealand on Sunday.

The bar will not be open on this weekend.

This situation highlights the need for us to continue to be vigilant, and do all we can to stop ‘the spread’. once again we would remind members of the established protocols that we have in place. When visiting the club, please ensure you check in using the NHS app or complete the track and trace form, and you continue, where possible, to respect social distancing when inside the club house and regularly wash or sanitise your hands. Club captains need to ask the same of their opposing number and their team.

We would ask you to support us in these measures and that things return to normal, as anticipated on the 19th of July.

Please stay safe and I hope to see you back at the Elms next week.
